Getting Honest About Hiring for Equity, Inclusion, and Values

Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 9am PDT

Why does an organization’s internal culture often feel like such a stark contrast to its external brand? Why does it feel like every webinar talks about hiring diverse talent but diversity data isn’t showing much change?

Since 2020, organizations have been clamoring, wondering why they aren’t able to hire and retain more underrepresented talent without asking this deeper question —>

How do we hire more values-aligned leaders who care about—and commit to—building equitable and inclusive teams?

While the US presidential election looms, we mustn't forget that workplaces don’t exist in a vacuum. An election cycle is bigger than any single candidate or political party. In fact, the interconnectedness of these issues—and our subsequent and collective liberation—requires that leaders don't wait to act (Asmelash and Gregor, 2024).

A meaningful move in the right direction is exploring how your hiring process does or doesn’t currently reflect your mission, values, or the future you seek to create.

The fact is, employer values topped the list of types of top marketing content consumed during candidate research, with 45% of all candidates citing it as most important, followed by interest in what a company does, career sites in multiple languages, inclusion and diversity information, answers to why people want to work at the company, and company culture information (SHRM, 2024).

Yet, how many leaders invest in designing a hiring process that not only talks about their core values but actually demonstrates them?

In this relaxed hour-long panel event hosted on LinkedIn Live, we’ll explore ways to build a harmonious relationship between your hiring process, organizational values, and internal culture, resulting in deeper equity and collective success.

Reimagining Feedback at Work

Thursday, October 10 at 9am PDT

Are you noticing a generational disconnect in how your teams view and deliver feedback? You’re not alone. And this chasm is even wider between Gen Z and other generations within the workplace.

Gen Z is only going to become a larger part of the workforce. In fact, they’re expected to comprise more than 32% by 2032, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Yet, Gen Z employees also report the greatest decline in feeling cared about at work, having the chance to learn and grow, having progress discussions with their supervisors, and feeling that their opinions matter (Gallup, 2024).

Building a culture of healthy feedback can help better engage—and retain—employees.

A culture of healthy feedback is one that people want to work in. It fuels collaboration, innovation, and creative conflict—the essential ingredients of liberating and high-impact experiences at work. Healthy feedback is also the foundation for an inclusive organization where inequities can be surfaced and appropriately addressed while enabling everyone to thrive.

We’re bringing you an interactive introductory session of our one-of-a-kind Culturally-Aware Feedback Training™ — for folks seeking to level up their feedback ethos and practice in a bite-sized hour. Join us to learn the fundamental practices of giving and receiving feedback while considering how power dynamics and identity impact communication at work. In this workshop, you'll walk away with practical tools for feedback conversations and strategies rooted in self-awareness.

Why and How Workplaces Should Respond to Public Crises

Friday, October 25 at Noon PDT

Since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, discussions have surfaced about how workplaces can be more responsive to disasters, humanitarian crises, mass shootings, and other traumatic events. But what's really at stake if we don't prioritize building trauma-informed, healing-centered workplaces? And there are so many crises happening every day; how do we know when to speak up as leaders when we don't have all the answers? And how can we create an org-wide infrastructure to more clearly outline response processes so there isn't widespread confusion each time one is needed?

This interactive workshop, hosted at Seramount’s visionary WorkBeyond Summit, will delve into why trauma-informed workplaces designed by emotionally intelligent teams are the way of the future.

We'll provide insights and practical strategies for immediate implementation, including suggestions for creating a customized traumatic event response plan in your organization.
